Contributory Infringement

One form of copyright violation is contributory infringement, where knowingly linking to or hosting material that violates copyright laws is in itself a violation.

  • Put students into groups and have them develop a process for determining if the material on educational web sites is copyrighted or if the web sites make proper use of someone else's copyrighted material.
  • Have them review 5 web sites for copyright adherence.
  • Discuss their findings and the lessons they learned about copyright.
